If you haven’t yet heard of Google Currents, then its time to jump aboard the bandwagon! Google Currents is a social magazine app available to both Android and IOS devices that allows users to stay up to date on the latest news from their favorite blogs.

The best part (besides being free) is that it couldn’t be easier to get your blog added to Google Currents!

Sign Up For Google Currents

google-currents-producer-signupFirst things first is to sign up as a Google Currents Producer which can be done here. The process involves filling out 4 text fields of information and pressing Continue. Can’t get much easier than that!

Create A New Edition

google-currents-new-editionThe next screen that pops up will ask you to create a new edition. Again, it doesn’t get much simpler than this. Fill out the information it asks for and click Create.

Edition Settings

After you’ve created your new edition, next you’ll want to set up your splash image and analytics for tracking. The splash image does have to be a square image, with a size range between 64px and 128px.

Edit Sections

Verify Ownership

google-currents-verifyVerify ownership of your blog by clicking the verify button. There wasn’t anything special here, I’m assuming it uses information from Google Analytics to verify.

Publish

google-currents-publishMake sure you don’t forget to publish at the end, either wise your blog will remain inactive and will not show up on Google Currents unless you are the owner or another user that has been added as a manager.

Testing

Lastly, you’ll want to make sure that everything works after publishing!

Google Currents provides some pretty in depth information on how to test everything but if you’re looking for the 10 second tutorial, it basically consists of downloading the Google Currents app on your platform (Android or IOS), and clicking the link provided to you after publishing.

Spread The Word

It should be noted that after publishing, you won’t be able to search for your blog in the Google Currents app. Until you reach 200 subscribers via the provided link, which will look something like this (http://www.google.com/producer/editions/CAowz_CGCg/bacon_sauce)
